Setup Netscape Email

Netscape 4 Note: Netscape 4 users are urged to upgrade to version 8 as version 4 does not include a setting for SMTP authentication. Instead, at least once per session — the first time you send a message and each time your email connection is lost — you'll be required to enter the password for your email account before an outgoing message is sent. You can download the Netscape 8 upgrade from the Netscape website:

Step 1. Open Netscape Communicator
Step 2. Click Edit, Preferences

Step 3. On the left side, click Mail & Newsgroups

· Click the plus sign (+) on Mail & Newsgroups
· Click on Identity
· Type your name in Your Name field
· Type your email address in the Email Address field

Step 4. Click Mail Servers

Step 5. Click Add on the right-side (A pop-up-box appears)

· Under Server Name, type in "mail.wadsnet.com" 
· Set Server Type to POP3 Server
· Under Username, type your email username (example: username@wadsnet.com)
· Choose the Remember password option, if you want Netscape to remember your password
· Click OK

Step 6. Outgoing Mail Server

· Under Outgoing Mail Server, type in "smtp.wadsnet.com" your outgoing e-mail server 
· Type your username in Outgoing Mail Server username (example: username@wadsnet.com)
· Click OK
· Your new email account is almost finished. Now do the following:

1. From the Edit menu, select (click) Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings…
2. In the menu area of the "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings" dialog box, click Outgoing Server (SMTP) .
3. In the "Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings" area make sure of the following:
   • The server name is smtp.wadsnet.com
   • The User name and password option is checked.
4. Click the Advanced... button.
5. In the "Advanced Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings" dialog box make sure that the name of the outgoing server is smtp.wadsnet.com
6. Click OK to close the "Advanced Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings" dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings" dialog box.

You can get to your Netscape Mail a number of ways;
· Click Start, Programs, Netscape Communicator, Netscape Messenger OR
· Open Netscape. You may see 5 small buttons on the bottom right of your screen. Click the second one from the left (inbox) OR
Open Netscape, Click Communicator at the very top of the browser and then click Messenger
