Step 4: Select "POP3" as the type of server your new e-mail account will work with and click Next.
Step 5: Fill out the form containing the settings for your new e-mail account according to the following chart:
|
FIELD |
DESCRIPTION |
| Your Name | Fill in your name as you would sign it. This field can contain uppercase letters or spaces. |
| E-mail Address | This is your entire WADSNET e-mail address. It should be in all lowercase letters, contain no spaces, and include @wadsnet.com. |
| User Name | This is the same as your e-mail address including the @wadsnet.com. It should be in all lowercase letters and contain no spaces. |
| Password | This is the password for your e-mail account. |
| Remember password | Check this box if you do not want to be prompted for your password each time you send or receive e-mail. |
| Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) | Do NOT check this box. |
| Incoming Mail Server (POP3) | The name of the WADSNET mail server is mail.wadsnet.com (all lowercase/no spaces). |
| Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) | The name of the WADSNET mail server is smtp.wadsnet.com (all lowercase/no spaces). |
When you are all done, the form should look something like this:

Step 6: Then click on the more settings button and select the Outgoing Email Server Tab and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication , check Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Click OK and then....
Step 7: Click on the "Test Account Settings..." button. This will verify that the information you have entered is correct. If all settings were properly configured, you should see results similar to those below. Any errors will require a reviewing the entered information and testing the account settings again. When Outlook is done testing your settings, the Tasks tab should look like this:

NOTE: If the Tasks tab shows that the first four tests pass but "Send test e-mail message" failed, it may just be that the computer you are setting Outlook up on is running firewall or antivirus software with a configuration that will not allow that test to pass. As long as "Establish network connection", "Find outgoing mail server (SMTP)", "Find incoming mail server (POP3)", and "Log onto incoming mail server (POP3)", were all successful, then the information you entered may still be correct. You may wish to ignore this one error and proceed with the setup of Outlook.
Step 7: Click on Close in the Test Account Settings dialog box.
Step 8: Click on Next in the E-mail Accounts wizard.
Step 9: Click on Finish.
Outlook is now configured to send and receive mail to and from your WADSNET e-mail account. If you ever need to add other accounts to this instance of Outlook, you can do so by clicking on Tools > E-mail Accounts and following the wizard again in order to create the new account.
