| How to fix Winsock problems on Windows 98 |

| 1. Backup your registry. To do
this, go to START and click on RUN. Then type in REGEDIT.

| 2. Select MY COMPUTER. Click on
REGISTRY, then choose EXPORT. Save the backup registry file to your
computer. Leave the registry editor alone and go to step #3.

| 3. Next, we need to remove your TCP/IP
network settings. To do this, click START --> SETTINGS and click
on CONTROL PANEL. Double click on NETWORK.
Select TCP/IP and then click REMOVE.

| 4. The next step is to remove DIAL-UP
NETWORKING. Under the network properties (step #3), remove all
DIAL-UP adapters, VPN Adapters and AOL adapters. To do this, click
on the adapter and click Remove. Note: Do not remove your network or
Ethernet adapters. Click OK to close and save. If prompted that the network is incomplete, click OK.
At this point, you'll need you Windows 98 CDROM. After copying the
files, Windows will prompt you to reboot . DO NOT REBOOT!!!!!!!!

| 5. Back in the Registry, we need to
delete WINSOCK2. To do this, double-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Then SYSTEM. Then CURRENTCONTROLSET. Finally SERVICES. Click once on WINSOCK2 folder. Click EDIT and choose Delete. Close out of the registry editor.

| 6. All that is left is to re-install
TCP/IP. To do this, click on START --> SETTINGS --> CONTROL PANEL. Double-click on NETWORK. Click ADD, and
then select PROTOCOL. Click ADD.

| 7. Select MICROSOFT. On the right,
choose TCP/IP. Click OK. Then Restart your computer.
